A fresh face is coming to Harlem—and to Knightsbridge Park’s portfolio of clients—thanks to BIG- Bjarke Ingels Group. And it’s already the center of attention at outlets like Bloomberg, 6sqft, Lux Exposé, Off The MRKT, and CityRealty.
We’re excited to be part of the team helping The Smile get the admiration it deserves.
Developed by Blumenfeld Development Group, the new building from the renowned Danish architect rises in a curving shape on East 126th Street, creating a smile in the sky above that extends down the facade in a sloping checkerboard of glass and steel.
This collection of Harlem apartments for rent brings Midtown style and amenities to Upper Manhattan: ranging in size from studios to two bedrooms, these apartments feature sleek interiors and high-end finishes and appliances, as well as a suite of luxury amenities.
Named after more than just its shape, The Smile is guaranteed to give residents plenty of reason to be happy.
The Smile’s iconic shape was dreamed up by Bjarke Ingels in an early meeting with the rest of the design and development team.
Ingels’s sweeping pencil stroke has been expanded into a 233-residence, 11-story building within walking distance of the popular Harlem-125th Subway and Metro-North Station.
The building sits at the intersection of convenient transit, a great shopping district along 125th Street, and fantastic outdoor recreation spaces like Harlem River Park.
From an architectural perspective, The Smile brings the individual vision of many Downtown and Midtown “starchitect” buildings to Upper Manhattan. While The Smile’s facade is designed to draw the eye, the interiors are no less striking.
The residences are larger than the city average, a crucial feature in the age of sheltering in place and working from home. Large windows on the south side capture natural light that floods the minimalist interiors, where undercabinet lighting in the kitchens and sleek undermounted sinks in the baths accentuate the flowing aesthetic.
Outside the homes, residents at The Smile have access to a suite of fitness and recreation amenities, each with appropriate social distancing guidelines.
The building’s roof has been turned into an outdoor deck with a pool and multiple whirlpools, while the dedicated fitness center is equipped with everything from a sauna and steam room to Peloton bikes and a Himalayan salt room.
Standard luxury building services like the 24-hour attended lobby and virtual concierge make navigating the building and Harlem a breeze.
The Smile will soon be open for leasing, so whether you’re a modern architecture fanatic who loves the latest and greatest designs, a work-from-home New Yorker in search of a more comfortable and more stylish pad, or just someone looking to settle in and explore Upper Manhattan, head over to The Smile’s website and make sure you’re the first to get exclusive updates.
